Statement on the Passing of NFFE Assistant General Counsel Philip Snodgrass

Wednesday, February 25, 2015

Brothers and sisters,

It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the tragic death of NFFE Assistant General Counsel and NFFE brother, Philip D. Snodgrass. NFFE General Counsel Stefan Sutich received a call from Phil's father informing him of the news.

Last night, on his way to Georgetown University Law Center where Phil was taking classes to receive his Masters of Law (LL.M.) degree, Phil was struck and killed by an erratic driver that drove off of the road and on to the sidewalk. Another pedestrian was injured, as was the driver.

Phil was a young and talented member of the NFFE family, and had an outstanding legal mind. Since starting as a full-time employee years ago, he provided NFFE-IAM members superb service through countless workplace and legal proceedings around the country. We are devastated by the loss of our brother. Our thoughts and prayers are with Phil's family and friends during this difficult time of grieving.

Snodgrass was hired in 2013 after previously interning at NFFE during his days at the Northeastern University School of Law and had long-since advocated for federal workers' rights. During his time as NFFE's law clerk he worked on a wide variety of cases before federal courts, administrative agencies and arbitrators.

NFFE will share details regarding arrangements as they become available from Phil's family. I ask that you please keep Phil's family in your thoughts and prayers.

In Solidarity,
