NFFE National President and Secretary/Treasurer Visit NFFE Local 251
Monday, August 27, 2007
Last week, NFFE National President Richard N. Brown and National Secretary/Treasurer Bill Dougan made a visit to NFFE Local 251.
The largest local in NFFE’s Forest Service Council, its offices are spread throughout Alaska. Brown and Dougan made stops at the local’s offices in Sitka, Juneau and Ketchikan during their visit. They held lunchtime meetings in each of these cities, in addition to conducting training sessions.
The national officers were well received by the members of Local 251. Brown and Dougan fielded many questions and updated meeting attendees on issues affecting Forest Service employees and the federal workforce as a whole. 30 new members signed up last week, and an additional 10-15 are anticipated as a result of the visit.
“We had a great trip,” said Brown. “It is always refreshing to visit NFFE members at their home locals. I thank the officers and members of NFFE Local 251 for their generous hospitality.”
