Wednesday, July 20, 2011(National Federation of Federal Employees)
In a
world where information travels fast and
misinformation travels faster, it is essential
that Unions are making their message heard on
the air, in print, and in the workplace.
To help
Locals get the word out, NFFE is proud to
announce the introduction of the Communicators’
Toolkit – your one-stop
resource for everything you need to get your
message out to your bargaining unit and beyond.
Located in the NFFE Toolbox,
the Communicators’ Toolkit offers a wealth of
newsletter, web, media, and visibility
resources to use in taking your Local’s
communications to the next level.
Inside
you can find tips on how to start a Local
newsletter, browse sample newsletters, or
use a ready-to-go template to start your
own publication. There are also a number
of web-related resources, such as how to start
and run a successful website, how to get a NFFE
microsite, and which federal news sites to
watch for the latest on important issues
impacting you. You can also use the Toolkit to
boost your Local’s profile in the workplace by
ordering or printing NFFE’s latest fliers,
signs, and brochures.
“The
benefits of a strong communications operation
cannot be overstated,” said NFFE Communications
Director Cory Bythrow. “Communicating is about
more than keeping your members informed – it is
about getting them engaged. When your coworkers
are informed, engaged, and active on the
important issues facing the federal workforce,
there is no limit to what we can
accomplish.”
Newsletters, websites, media, and visibility. At all organizations – large and small – these elements come together to form the secret sauce of an effective communications strategy. The Communicators’ Toolkit was designed to give you those tools in a straightforward, easy-to-use format. If you’re interested in improving your Local communications, or have a question about the Toolkit, contact Communications Director Bythrow at cbythrow@nffe.org or (202) 216-4458.
