Federal Pay Update: Locality Pay Frozen in 2011

Wednesday, December 1, 2010

(National Federation of Federal Employees)

In the wake of announcing a two-year pay freeze for civilian federal workers Monday, the White House yesterday announced that it will be temporarily freezing locality pay as well.

In a letter to Congress, the president informed legislators that the White House would withhold from extending locality pay adjustments to federal workers due to “serious economic conditions affecting the general welfare” of the nation. According to the letter, locality pay adjustments will be frozen at 2010 levels for fiscal year 2011.
