Thursday, August 5, 2010(National Federation of Federal Employees)
Registration begins today for the first
annual Richard N. Brown
Memorial Scholarship Fund Motorcycle
Run, which will be held on Sunday,
September 19th, beginning in Watervliet, New
York.
The run,
organized by late NFFE National President
Richard N. Brown’s sister Kimberly Carl,
encompasses a 45-mile route throughout the
capital region of New York, beginning at the
Watervliet Arsenal and ending at Moreau Lake
State Park in Ganesvoort. All bikes and
automobiles are welcome to participate.
Following the ride, participants are
welcome to join the Brown Family for a lakeside
cookout at the park pavilion where food and
refreshments will be served. Tickets purchased
in advance of the event are $25 per
rider/driver and $15 per passenger, or $30
dollars on the day of the event. Also, t-shirts
and 50/50 raffle tickets will be available for
purchase. All proceeds from the motorcycle run
will go toward the Richard N. Brown Memorial
Scholarship Fund, which provides two $1,000
scholarships each year to NFFE members or their
children for furthering their education.
Following Brown’s passing in June of
2009, NFFE partnered with the Federal Employee
Education and Assistance Fund (FEEA) to
dedicate this scholarship in honor of his
life’s work in enhancing the well-being of
federal employees and their families. This
scholarship is intended to ensure that Rick's
legacy of selfless stewardship of federal
workers will live on for years to come. If you
