Happy 4th of July!

(From the Desk of NFFE National President Erwin)
Independence Day commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. On this day 242 years ago, the Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies were free of British rule and will govern themselves.
Although the Congress voted for
independence two days earlier, on July 2, the
final document was not revised and completed
until July 4. On that day, newly independent
Americans celebrated with bell ringing,
bonfires, and speeches, the same way they used
to celebrate English holidays, such as the
King’s Birthday.
The meaning of Independence Day grew
over time, from being mostly a political event
to a national celebration of everything that
makes the United States a unique and beautiful
country. Parades, barbeques, parties, and
fireworks are all a part of the great holiday
we celebrate every 4th of July to commemorate
our Founding
Fathers.
“NFFE is
the oldest federal union, now in its 101st
year,” stated Randy Erwin, NFFE National
President. “We are engrained in the
fabric of the history of the United States, and
for more than a century, NFFE members continue
to play a vital role in its progress.
Together, we lay the foundation from which
future generations will
prosper.
NFFE
is honored to represent hard-working Americans
who have dedicated their lives to serving their
fellow citizens. On behalf of the NFFE
family, I wish you and yours a very safe and
happy
holiday."
Fraternally,
Randy
