Fight the Furloughs
In times like these it is hard to rally for a fight. We’ve seen workloads rise, paychecks frozen, and retirement benefits diminished.
The easy path would be for us to become discouraged, hang our heads and choose to just give up. But that is not what we are about; that is not who we are.
Yes, we are in the worst of times; but these times demand the best from our movement. Unionists have always found the brightest dawn after the darkest nights, and today is no different.
If we are to disperse the clouds pervading our collective conscious we must be the first to stand up. Three years of political war against federal employees has proven that nothing will change if we sit back and hope for change.
We must BE the change.
Call your member of Congress every day and demand they come to an agreement to avoid the furloughs. Tell them you will call every day to make sure they are working toward a solution.
With just five minutes out of your day you can ensure that your member of Congress knows his/her constituents are holding them accountable.
This may seem like a small measure, but remember this: a journey of 1,000 miles begins with one optimistic step forward. We can stop this if we choose to stop it together. No one can take a backseat on this.
Contact your elected officials using the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 (on your own time, using your own phone) and take responsibility for your own destiny.
