FEEA Offers Assistance to Feds Impacted by Irene and FAA Furloughs; Now it's Our Turn to Give Back
Tuesday, September 6, 2011(Federal Employee Education & Assistance Fund)
The
first half of 2011 has been busy for the
Federal Employee Education and Assistance
Fund.
After severe spring weather impacted
federal employees throughout much of the
southern U.S., FEEA gave more than 40 grants
worth over $22,000 in April and May. Need
did not abate in June or July, and August saw
4,000 FAA employees back at work after
furloughs but facing half-pay for a full
month.
By late August, FEEA had helped 36 FAA
employees with loans totaling more than
$28,000.
But
those 36 loans were only a small portion of the
128 total loans processed in August, worth more
than $80,000. The economy continues to
affect federal families at an increasing rate
with nearly 500 federal employees seeking
emergency loans or grants since May 1 of this
year.
FEEA has already processed over $300,000
in emergency assistance this fiscal year,
putting it on-track to provide more than $1
million in aid this year, doubling last year’s
record high.
This level of support for feds and their families is only possible with your help. FEEA uses donations to CFC #11185 to fund its programs, providing emergency help and scholarships to civilian feds across the country and around the world.
